Hawai’i Island United Way Introduces Ripple Effect Awards to Honor Big Island Nonprofits

Hilo, HI. (June 2, 2025) – Hawai’i Island United Way (HIUW) is shining a spotlight on the dedicated individuals and organizations making a difference across Hawai’i Island with their newly created Ripple Effect Awards.

The Ripple Effect Awards will serve to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of nonprofit workers and organizations who are forward thinkers, inspiring action, and driving meaningful change in the community. Awards are separated into categories for individuals and teams, and include:

  • North Star Visionary Award
  • Loud & Proud Advocacy Award
  • Good Trouble Social Justice Award
  • Human Spark Plug Good Juju Award
  • The Dream Team We Rock! Award
  • And more!

One nonprofit organization will also be recognized with the Mission Mastery Award for outstanding impact and dedication. Nominations for the Ripple Effect Awards are now open and being accepted through July 15th, 2025. The Ripple Effect Awards will be presented at Hawai’i Island United Way’s inaugural Givers Gala event, being held on October 24, 2025 at the Arc of Hilo. HIUW will open ticket sales for the Givers Gala event in early August.
